Noren is a contemporary reinterpretation of the Japanese izakaya: an intimate, carefully designed space that encourages a direct connection between guests and kitchen. The aim was to organise a compact interior capable of accommodating up to 30 people, with a counter designed for the preparation of drinks and fresh dishes, transformed into the operational and social heart of the experience.
Design solution
Perimeter benches optimise the available space and open the central area to a large communal table, creating a spontaneous and informal dining experience. The lacquered timber entrance wall provides visual continuity and references traditional Japanese architecture through a clean, current design language. Functionality, capacity and atmosphere come together in an intimate, fluid and distinctive space.
